LE KLINT Carronade S – pendant light, sand

Sand-coloured Carronade designer hanging light with a wooden bracket The Carronade pendant lamp was designed by the Danish furniture and industrial designer Markus Johansson. As the name suggests, the body of the hanging light is based on the design of an old cannon of the kind used on ships in the 18th century. The combination of matt sand-coloured steel as a lampshade, sand-washed oak wood as a mounting bracket and locking screws made of brass gives the light not only its distinctive Nordic charm, but also a great deal of flexibility, as the lampshade can be locked in place at any angle in the wooden bracket. Markus Johansson designed the Carronade light series for the Danish lighting manufacturer Le Klint. In addition to new lighting creations with metal lampshades, Le Klint is particularly known for its handmade lampshades, which are developed and made in-house using a special transverse pleating technique. The company, which is based in Odense on the island of Funen, was founded in 1943. In the same year, a store was opened in Copenhagen, which still exists in the same place today.
